About This Course

The COVID pandemic is exposing gender and racial inequality and is giving rise to a pandemic of mental health problems, particularly depression. A recent CDC survey suggested a doubling of rates of depression during the pandemic, with 50% of adults reporting depressed mood in the spring of 2020. Rates among young adults and those with less education are particularly high. Economic uncertainty, unemployment or under-employment, social isolation, strain on family relationships, and disruption of daily routines continue to give rise to discouragement, despair, and a loss of hope. Now more than ever, mental health providers need powerful brief interventions to serve the thousands of people in need of their assistance.

This webinar is designed for mental health and other healthcare providers wanting to stand strong at this time and connect in new ways with their clients. Participants will learn foundation skills for Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (FACT), an approach to brief interventions that aims to enhance psychological flexibility and a better quality of life, now in conditions of adversity.
