Jacqueline Pistorello, PhD
Jacqueline Pistorello is a licensed clinical psychologist and research faculty at the University of Nevada, Reno, Counseling Services, where she has worked with college students for fifteen years. Dr. Pistorello specializes in mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches for the prevention and treatment of mental health problems among college students. Dr. Pistorello has received grants from the National Institutes of Health to study the application of two behavioral approaches Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)) towards interventions with college students in particular. More recently, Dr. Pistorello has become involved in bringing to the University of Nevada, Reno, the Student Support Network (SSN), a peer mentoring training program to teach students how to reach out to other distressed students. She has published two books: Finding Life Beyond Trauma, a self-help book for trauma survivors utilizing ACT, and more recently, ann edited volume titled Mindfulness and Acceptance for Counseling College Students.
