This presentation will focus specifically on ACT for Moral Injury. Moral injury is a new concept that is defined as psychological and emotional suffering following a values violation in a high stakes situation (e.g., life or death, trauma). Many clinicians are unfamiliar with this concept but will none the less experience it in their clinical practice when they encounter clients who are suffering personal instances of violating their own values. The benefits of attending the workshop to the clinician will include raised awareness of the issue, definition and current research as well as how to treat moral injury when it is encountered.

Commit and Act is a non-governmental organization working to bring psychotherapeutic support to communities in need in Sierra Leone, Uganda, and Liberia. Their goal is to build a renewed sense of trust in the people they work with. To help individuals find the courage to rebuild their lives according to their own vision and values. Their local professional therapists counsel individuals and community groups.

PraxisCET is proud to help support this work. Proceeds from this presentation will go directly to Commit and Act, providing vital funding for the health and education services they provide in Sierra Leone and elsewhere.
