Created specifically for clinicians who have completed our on-demand course, Focused ACT for Brief Interventions, this unique new online training is designed to help you gain the fluency you need to use Focused ACT assessment, case conceptualization, intervention strategies, and support tools on a day-to-day basis — so you can help more people in less time.

About the Course

This 4-part live online series is designed to encourage exploration and experimentation of concepts from Focused ACT for Brief Interventions within a safe and supportive learning-centric environment.

Working with expert trainers and FACT co-founders Dr. Kirk Strosahl and Dr. Patti Robinson, you will actively engage with the FACT principles through practice in role-plays, experiential activities, and case conceptualizations.

Each weekly lab will start with a brief review of didactic materials before diving into clinical demonstrations — including a specific focus on complex cases (such as trauma, self-destructive/suicidal behavior, anxiety, addictive behaviors, and mood dysfunction).

You’ll then join other course participants for structured skill-based practice so you can explore the tools and concepts used in the demonstrations from the inside out. This will be the perfect opportunity to practice concepts such as the pillars of psychological flexibility or the four square tool.

After taking a deeper dive into the use of powerful FACT tools — such as the pillars of psychological flexibility and the four square tool — you’ll have the chance to reflect on your successes and challenges with Dr. Strosahl and Dr. Robinson and explore them as a group.

Each session will resolve with the opportunity to debrief what you’ve learned, ask questions, and open up further exploration through additional role-play demonstrations highlighting “second-level” principles.

In addition, Dr. Strosahl and Dr. Robinson will introduce new material not covered in the on-demand course — including the CARE model for organizing sessions and as a framework for teaching FACT to colleagues.

Through the demonstration of key principles, breakout practice sessions, discussions, debriefs, and Q&A, you’ll find new ways to thoroughly embody the material — and do so in an atmosphere that is open, fun, flexible, and engaging.

We hope you’ll join us for this unique immersive experience as we practice, question, explore, and grow together as like-minded clinicians in the service of helping clients live better and more meaningful lives.

This training is worth 8 CE credit hours if attended live. While we can only provide CE to those who are present – i.e. logged in – for all live sessions, Praxis webinars are recorded for later viewing. Registrants may access these recordings at any time for up to nine months from the conclusion of the training to which they pertain.

At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the core ingredients of the CARE algorithm for organizing efficient and effective FACT visits.
  2. Articulate FACT consistent conceptualization and advanced intervention strategies for both common and complex clinical problems seen in practice.
  3. Discuss how to deliver efficient and effective “here, now” interventions based in a five-facet model of mindful awareness of the body and the present moment.
  4. Describe ways to seamlessly incorporate trauma and other high risk client factors into a “here and now” intervention framework
  5. Identify how to collaboratively design powerful, value based behavioral experiments with complex, multi-problem clients
