An overview of the use of ACT in the treatment of parents of dysregulated teens, this session will cover the similarities and differences with other parenting treatments for this population as well as the unique characteristics of this approach. You will learn specific skills to look at parents’ internal experience (i.e., thoughts, memories, feelings, and physical sensations) as a driver of ineffective parenting behaviors and the impact these in their teens’ behaviors, the cycle of conflict with their teens, and their relationship in general.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the “why” and “how” parents engage in experiential avoidance strategies and the impact of them in their teen’s behavior and the cycle of conflict.
  2. Demonstrate competency in delivery of core ACT interventions to move clients from experiential avoidance into flexible parenting.

This training is worth 2 CE credit hours if attended live. While we can only provide CE to those who are present  i.e. logged in  for live presentation(s), all Praxis webinars are recorded for later viewing. Registrants may then access these recordings at any time for up to six months from the conclusion of the training to which they pertain.
